Housing… Our Future – what lies ahead for Milton and Halton?
Have you stopped to wonder lately what is happening in Milton to prepare for the next round of growth and access to affordable housing? Curious about what various agencies in our community are planning to address the issues?
Milton Transitional Housing’s 3rd annual housing forum will offer insights into what to expect over the next few years with our theme of looking forward in housing.
Please join us Thursday, October 5th at 7:30 pm at the Milton Senior’s Centre, 500 Childs Drive for an evening of information and discussion.
The evening will feature a keynote presentation from MTH Case Manager Jason Palmer, who will share his personal journey from homelessness to housing advocate.
Following Jason’s keynote will be a panel presentation from local and provincial experts in housing, including:
- Heather Thompson, Manager Age Friendly Initiatives, Community Development Halton to speak about the new Home Share program
- Rizaldo Padilla, Senior Policy Advisor, Ministry of Housing to speak about the Fair Housing Strategy
- Roger Broad, Director of Property Development, Planning and Construction, Habitat for Humanity and Bert Krikke, Director of Family Service, Habitat for Humanity to talk about upcoming HFH builds in our community
- Regional Councillor Colin Best to speak about the Allendale property (Ontario Street and Childs Drive) and the Region of Halton’s vision for this parcel of land.
The panel presenters will also take part in a question and answer session with the audience and will be available after the panel presentation for those wishing to know more.
This is a free event and will be of interest to anyone concerned about or wanting to know more about housing options in the near future.
Hope to see you there!
