Wendy became very aware of the impact of homelessness on families during her teaching career and has worked to increase the supply of affordable housing in Milton for over 15 years. Wendy is also chair of Milton Transitional Housing’s Communications Team.
After retiring from teaching, Wendy Schau was elected as a Milton Town Councillor and served from 2003 to 2010. She was also Volunteer Campaign Chair for the United Way of Milton for 2008 and 2009 and chaired the Investment in the Arts Campaign, which raised funds in support of Milton’s new Centre for the Arts. Wendy was named Milton’s Citizen of the Year for 2011.
Before retiring from teaching in 1998, Wendy worked for 34 years for the Halton Public School Board, primarily as a Special Education Resource Teacher.
