February 25, 2017 is proclaimed to be Coldest Night of the Year Day in Milton, Ontario!!! Help us again raise $50,000 for those in a housing crisis.
From the bottom of our hearts, we thank Milton Mayor Gord Krantz for proclaiming Feb 25 to be the coldest night of the Year Day in Milton. The support of Mayor Krantz and Milton Council has been amazing each year and is very much appreciated.
Milton Transitional Housing is hosting the COLDEST NIGHT OF THE YEAR walk-a-thon in Milton on Saturday, February 25, 2017. The #cnoy2017 walk is a Canada-wide event with over 110 other communities participating.
Last year we raised over $50,000!
We’d love to do that again! So we need walking teams, and the walking teams need leaders, and the walkers need sponsors – THAT’S YOU!
We need our MTH SUPPORTERSSupport MTH #cnoy2017 here
- CAPTAIN A WALK TEAM –A team captain recruits and organizes a team of walkers – teams can have any number of walkers, but 8 members is a good target.
- JOIN A TEAM AS A WALKER – walkers encourage non-walkers to sponsor their walk. Each walker raises $150 or more in sponsor donations ($75 for kids 12-16), or pay a registration fee $25 (registration fees are waived for walkers raising the minimum fundraising amount).
- SPONSOR A WALKER – make a donation to support the walker or team of your choice (and MTH of course!)
We walk for Milton Transitional Housing (MTH), a local charity providing subsidized bridge accommodation and supportive counselling to people who are in housing crisis. Once MTH’s participants are securely housed, MTH’s Case Manager works with them to overcome the issues that led to their homelessness (sometimes its family breakdown, or job loss, or illness, or just plain being down on their luck). Within a year to two years, MTH participants work their way to back housing independence. MTH is currently assisting 9 families, and since 2012 we have “graduated” 7 participant families from HOPE to HOME.
All of this takes money, so that’s what this walk is about – helping MTH help people to come in “out of the cold”. You are the best!
